- **Event Name**: Field Day 2026
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 27 Jun, 2026 at 12:00 pm – Sun, 28 Jun, 2026 at 03:59 pm
- **Event Description**: ARRL Field Day 2026: Porter County Amateur Radio Club (K9PC)
SPECIAL NOTICE: NO FRIDAY NIGHT THIS YEAR. Setup has been greatly simplified now that most of our stations live in the EmComm trailer, so there is nothing going on Friday night. Everything kicks off Saturday, June 27 with setup at 10:00 AM CDT. Please plan accordingly and spread the word so no one shows up Friday expecting the usual gathering.

ARRL Field Day 2026 is scheduled for June 27–28, 2026, on the fourth full weekend of June. The official event begins at 1800 UTC Saturday (2:00 PM EDT / 1:00 PM CDT) and runs through 2059 UTC Sunday (4:59 PM EDT / 3:59 PM CDT). This year's theme, "Amateur Radio: A National Resource," highlights ham radio's readiness to provide resilient communications and its role in serving our communities. Field Day mixes emergency preparedness, casual contesting, and socializing, and is open to all hams in the ARRL/RAC Field Organizations and IARU Region 2, with DX stations eligible for contact credit.

For our club, this is a Saturday into Sunday operation this year. With most of our stations now living in the EmComm trailer, there are no tents to raise and tear down, so setup is much quicker. In a lot of ways this change is right in the true spirit of Field Day: a self-contained emergency communications setup that we can roll in, power up, and have on the air fast, which is exactly the kind of rapid deployment Field Day is meant to practice. We'll set up Saturday morning at 10:00 AM CDT, operate through Saturday night (this year's overnight), and wrap up Sunday morning. Once we tear down Sunday morning, we encourage everyone to keep the fun going and field day from home for the rest of Sunday.

No License Required to Participate
Field Day is open to everyone. You do not need an amateur radio license to attend, operate (under supervision), or just come out and enjoy the event. If you're a new ham, a curious visitor, or someone thinking about getting licensed, you are warmly welcome.

Get Together and Get on the Air
More than anything, Field Day is our chance to get together and enjoy some good old fashioned camaraderie. Come catch up, swap stories, share a meal, and have some fun with the group. Got an antenna ya wanna test out? Bring it. Got a radio ya wanna get on the air, or need a hand with? Bring it. We'll help you get it going and find you a spot on the bands.

Location
Field Day will again be hosted at Matt's (W9MDM), 307 S State Rd 2, Hebron, IN.

Note to attendees: Do not drive across the driveway into the yard after pulling in. Instead, proceed north just past the trees. A sign will mark the driveway entrance.

Schedule
Saturday, June 27, 2026: Setup starts at 10:00 AM CDT. It's much simpler this year, since most of our stations live in the EmComm trailer and there are no tents to raise. The event officially gets going at 1:00 PM CDT (aligned with the 1800 UTC start). We'll operate through the afternoon, into the evening, and overnight, with Saturday night being this year's overnight session.
Sunday, June 28, 2026: Operating continues into the morning. We'll wrap up and tear down Sunday morning, then everyone is encouraged to keep going from home.
Activities
We'll operate under the club call K9PC, keeping it casual and social rather than contest-focused. It's a great chance to introduce newcomers to the hobby.
Barn utilization: We'll use the barn for operations and as a backup in case the weather turns bad, as it has repeatedly in past years.
Food Plan
Please sign up at https://booking.k9pc.club/ to let us know when you'll be there so we can estimate food properly. That's also where you can enter the side dish you're bringing.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
If you'd rather help out by grabbing plates and utensils, that works too. Just add it as your side when you sign up.
The club will supply meat (burgers, hot dogs, brats) for Saturday's lunch and dinner.
If you want something beyond the basics for the grill, bring it to cook.
Beverages are not supplied, so please bring your own, adult beverages included. Feel free to bring extra to share as well.
Collection basket: A general collection basket will be available to cover plates, utensils, condiments, and other essentials.
Support our Field Day 2026 at Matt's (W9MDM)! Your donation helps cover plates, utensils, condiments, porta potty servicing, and other essentials. Pitching in also takes some of the stress off the club's bank account, so anything you can give is appreciated.

Comfort Update
We'll have our new EmComm trailer on site with air conditioning running. If the heat is extreme (as it was last year!), we'll also have a station set up inside the air-conditioned room, so no excuses to stay home!

Facilities
Porta potty: A porta potty will be on-site throughout the event. We're also taking donations to cover the cost of servicing it, so please consider contributing above!
Additional Notes
Camping is encouraged; bring tents if you're staying overnight Saturday into Sunday.
Once we tear down Sunday, we encourage everyone to field day from home for the rest of Sunday and keep operating from your own station.
