One of the most popular events held at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens (DABG), "Scarecrows in the Gardens," returns in October for its 21st year. 🎃🎉 The event kicks off October 1 and visitors will enjoy this whimsical display of home-made scarecrows scattered throughout the Gardens. Created by local businesses, schools, clubs and organizations, “Scarecrows in the Gardens” is sure to please both young and old alike. 😍
This year, the theme is “All Things Music”. 🎶🥁🎹🎤🎸
All scarecrows will be suitable for viewing by children. Scarecrows will be whimsical, humorous, mischievous or loveable---NOT overly frightening. Scarecrows are designed by families, businesses, non-profits, church groups, schools, clubs and individuals.
In addition to being judged by an outside panel of judges, garden visitors can also vote on their favorite scarecrows during the first two weeks of the display, from Oct 1-15th. The “People’s Choice” winners will be announced Oct. 16th. 🏆
📍 All visitors to the Gardens to view the scarecrows will enter through the Botanical Center. Admission to the Gardens is $5.00 for adults, with free admission to Garden members and kids age 15 and younger. Annual garden memberships can be purchased in the Botanical Center or online at www.dabg.com.
‼️ As a special treat, DABG will offer free admission as part of its Scarecrow Open House on Sunday, Oct 5th from 2pm until closing at 6pm. Visitors will be able to enjoy the scarecrows, walk the trails, and cast their vote for their favorite scarecrow. ‼️
The Dothan Area Botanical Garden is located at 5130 Headland Ave. in Dothan. The pet-friendly (must be on leash) facility is open from 9:00am-6pm seven days a week. Garden entry is through the Ralph & Carolyn Smith Botanical Center where admission fees are collected. Tickets to the "Wings of Wonder" are only $3 each and are available at the admission desk.
