Step into the craft of bladesmithing with this intensive, hands-on introduction designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike. In this class, students will explore the fundamentals of blade design, creation, and finishing. The workshop includes:
Review of blade etymology and terminology
Blade forging and heat treatment
Blade grinding
Sharpening techniques
A short lesson in the metallurgy of blade steel
Final class review and guidance
By the end of the session, each student will leave with a fully finished knife forged and refined by their own hands.
All tools, safety gear, and materials are included. This is a heat- and movement-intensive activity, so closed-toe shoes and comfortable workshop-friendly clothing are strongly recommended.
