Rev Dr Julian Hamilton, a visiting minister from the Methodist Church in Ireland, will join us for an afternoon of conversation and reflection.

Drawing on his extensive experience in leadership, youth development, peacebuilding, pastoral ministry, human rights advocacy and transformational change, Julian invites us to consider a simple but profound distinction:

Change is what happens around us and to us. 
Transition is what happens within us.

Change is often practical and visible. Transition is the emotional, relational, spiritual and psychological process of letting go of what has been, living with uncertainty, and becoming open to where God is leading us in the season ahead.

Together we will explore how congregations can faithfully navigate seasons when the old no longer works, yet the new has not fully emerged. Rather than viewing these in-between times as failure or decline, Julian encourages us to recognise them as spaces of liminality, often the very places where God does God's deepest work.

For congregational and presbytery leaders, this gathering will offer thoughtful reflection, shared conversation and practical wisdom for leaders accompanying their communities through uncertainty and change with hope, courage and faith.
