During this time of the year the park canals fill with rainwater and become temporary, seasonal wetlands called vernal pools. It is in these types of pools that amphibians will migrate to and breed so that they may lay their eggs. This event offers participants an up close look at an ancient ritual that few ever get to see.** This date is our best guess but it is subject to change based on weather conditions and availability of wildlife. Please check back prior to the event to make sure it hasn't changed.TICKETS ARE FREE BUT REQUIRED!Members will receive the ticket link via email first and then we will make the link public for any remaining tickets. Sign up here www.suskywildlife.org/membershipDue to the popularity of this event each year, limited parking, the sensitivity of the habitat and species, and the narrowness of the trail surrounding the pools, we will break the event up into two smaller groups about an hour apart. The first session will be a little shorter and more geared towards children. The second slot we can potentially go a little more in-depth and explore further down the trail. Please reserve your ticket accordingly. We ask that guests for the second time slot be patient as we wrap up the first group and that guests from the first group clear out in a timely fashion to make room for our next set of guests. Carpooling is encouraged! If you get a ticket and are unable to come please let us know so we can offer those tickets back to other guests who we could not accommodate after selling out.* Bring waterproof boots, a flashlight, and a camera!*To protect the habitat and wildlife we will ask that participants remain on edge of wetlands. We will disinfect all of our boots and equipment with a 3% bleach solution (1/2 cup bleach : 1 gallon water) that have been in other wetlands prior to entry.* Permission for after dusk access has been obtained from Susquehanna State Park.LOCATION: We will meet at the parking area on Stafford Road at the confluence of Deer Creek and the Susquehanna.
