Matangi Station, owned by Austrian Entrepreneur Robert Haselsteiner and Atua Station owned by Jamie and Nicky Gaddum, is a powerful example of farming through change. Following Cyclone Gabrielle, the business has reset to take greater control of its supply chain – from farming through to a boutique butchery in Hastings – ensuring their premium beef and lamb reach consumers exactly as intended.

Across their 950ha operation, the Gaddums and the Matangi team combine technology, data, and practical farming to lift productivity while protecting the environment. From Halter collars and drone monitoring to native planting, erosion control, and solar-powered water systems, their approach shows how profitability and sustainability can work hand in hand.
