Presented in partnership with the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy, our Instructor I course is designed to be delivered as a “blended” course, though most of the class will take place in our virtual classroom. Because of this, the attending student must possess a laptop or tablet capable of accessing the internet. A series of online objectives must be met each week. Two weeks from the start date of the course, an access code will be emailed to the above email address. You can use these codes to access the supplied eBook and other course materials for each module on Google Classroom. Though we will be providing an eBook for your class, it is highly recommended that you purchase or otherwise obtain a hard copy of the above textbook.

This course introduces instructors in the fire service to instructional methodology. Topics to be covered include training objectives, lesson plans, methods of instruction, concepts of adult learning, testing, and evaluation. Participants will prepare lesson plans and make presentations to the class. This course meets the objectives of NFPA 1041: Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications Level I.
 A hard copy of the textbook IS NOT included in the cost of this course.

Certification: Though Haughton Fire will be hosting a certification exam at the conclusion of this course, it will be the responsibility of the registering department to submit a test request form for their participating members, utilizing ACADIS. Additionally, practical skill evaluations will be done as part of the class, through mandatory weekly assignments.

Needed Materials: Computer or mobile device, secure internet connection, web browser, Google account, recording device w/ video and microphone (phone, webcam, tablet, ect…).
Recommended Materials: Zoom access.

Payment: This class is being presented in partnership with the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy and thus will have no cost associated with tuition. Your department will however be charged for the associated certification test, which will be billed by FETA.
