Join us for the first event in this kaupapa, bringing together pakihi and leaders from across Hawke’s Bay for honest, grounded kōrero.

Wāhanga Pōuri focuses on the parts of business we don’t always see. The pressure, the setbacks, the responsibility we carry for our people and our whānau. This is a space to share lived experience, reflect, and learn from others who have walked similar paths.

Breakfast will be served, with time to connect and build relationships before and after the kōrero.

We’re proud to bring together two strong Māori leaders for this session.

Waylyn Tahuri-Whaipakanga
2023 Leader of the Year and a respected leader across health and social services. With more than 28 years’ experience, Waylyn has held senior roles including CEO, Director, and Chair across multiple boards. Her mahi continues to uplift whānau and strengthen communities.

Lawrence Ereatara
Of Ngāi Tūhoe and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga whakapapa, Lawrence brings over 20 years’ experience across Corrections, security, and health. His mahi centres on rangatahi and community, working to create better pathways and outcomes.

Introducing as MC Matariki Wainohu
Matariki Wainohu is the founder of Ngā Puna-a-Matariki Trust, working at the intersection of mātauranga Māori, environmental restoration, and community wellbeing. Her kaupapa centres on empowering whānau and building Indigenous-led solutions for future generations. She is passionate about creating spaces for honest kōrero, growth, and collective strength.

This is more than a business event. It’s a space for whakawhanaungatanga, shared learning, and strengthening our collective leadership.
