Through a compelling performance inspired by a recording of Hujar's own words, the film offers an intimate insight into the photographer's daily life and practice, providing viewers with a deeper understanding of the artist.

Looking at his photographs of nude men, even of a naked baby boy, is the closest I ever came to experience what it is to inhabit male flesh. His photographs of animals have that same rare empathy, they are like highly personal portraits.” Nan Golden

This screening is presented in partnership with De La Warr Pavilion in response to its current exhibition programme.

Peter Hujar's photographic work is featured in To Improvise A Mountain: Lynette Yiadom-Boakye Curates, a Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition from Southbank Centre, London, curated by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and on view at De La Warr Pavilion until 13 September.

The screening will be introduced by De La Warr Pavilion Curator João Conceição.
