Planning continues for the Hastings Main Street Pocket Park through a collaborative partnership with UF/IFAS St. Johns County Extension and the St. Johns Botanical Garden & Nature Preserve. Together, the team is designing a vibrant landscape using Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles, with native trees, pollinator plants, and low-maintenance landscaping that will provide year-round beauty while supporting local wildlife. Planting is expected to begin this fall, with this community workday marking an exciting first step.

Participants will also have opportunities to help plant and even adopt garden beds, creating a welcoming gathering space that reflects the pride and spirit of the Hastings community. As the project progresses, additional volunteer opportunities and updates will be shared.

Please come prepared for outdoor work by wearing closed-toe shoes and bringing sunscreen, gloves, a hat, and garden tools if you have them.
