Introduction, The Dialectics of Art, John Molyneux

When asked, I like to say that I make good trouble in my small way. WE ARE NOT DONE YET! was inspired by the inauguration and its immediate and ongoing aftermath. We knew it was going to get worse but perhaps had not quite bargained for this.

We are not done yet can refer to (optimistically, and probably delusionally) we shall overcome - that the current regime will not last, yet as days, weeks and months go by it seems clear that the next election cycle will not solve this.

We are not done yet can also refer to - you ain’t seen nothing yet. We can also see that there is not a way to go back to the ‘good old /bad old days. The interdependence of the center (both left and right) is not holding and continues to shift right.

This exhibition offers no easy answers. There are hard truths intermingled with some humor, and an embrace of the ongoing human existence which may be the only true resistance left.
