Modern Melodies

Experience the extraordinary sounds of chamber music in the beautiful and vibrant setting of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, under the artistic direction of HSO Concertmaster Leonid Sigal and featuring Hartford Symphony Orchestra musicians. Concerts are presented in collaboration with the Wadsworth Atheneum’s special exhibitions and permanent collections.

Members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra perform a concert of chamber works inspired by Modernism including works by Maurice Ravel and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Before the performance, Oliver Tostmann, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of European Art, and Erin Monroe, Krieble Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture, lead a gallery talk exploring the development of Modern art on both sides of the Atlantic.
