Gone Guys: Community Film Screening & Discussion
Hartford High School invites parents, students, educators, and community members to attend a screening of Gone Guys, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
Boys and young men are struggling. Over the past 50 years, they have disengaged from school, work, relationships, and broader society. They are falling behind academically, struggling with loneliness and isolation, and facing rising rates of substance use and suicide. This award-winning 45-minute documentary film draws on the work of Richard V. Reeves (“Of Boys and Men”), illuminating these trends through powerful data and personal storytelling. Set in rural Vermont, the film invites audiences to think about how they are experiencing these issues in their own lives and communities, and how we can all be a part of the solution.
Gone Guys is intended to start a conversation. It invites audiences to consider the data, stories, and reflections explored in the film to better understand what many young people and families are navigating today, and to appreciate the work already happening in our community to support them.
Doors open at 5:45 PM
Film begins at 6:00 PM
A panel discussion with community leaders and educators will immediately follow the film, along with an audience Q&A. Admission is free, but seating is limited and registration is encouraged.
