- **Event Start and End Date**: Mon, 18 May, 2026 at 07:15 pm – Mon, 18 May, 2026 at 08:15 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Music has long been recognized for its emotional and mental health benefits, but recent research has begun to explore the physical healing power of music. The violin, in particular, offers a unique form of music therapy that has the potential to aid in treating various neurological conditions, but can also effect a relaxing and calming experience for those listening.

Yoga Nidra works with the autonomic nervous system, which regulates processes of the body that take place without a conscious effort (heartbeat, breathing, digestion and blood flow). This system also includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. With yoga nidra, you are lying down and the goal is to move into a deep state of conscious awareness sleep, which is a deeper state of relaxation with awareness. This state involves moving from consciousness while awake to dreaming and then to not-dreaming while remaining awake — going past the unconscious to the conscious. The effect can be deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, especially when practiced regularly.

Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic practice designed to counteract chronic stress, burnout, and fatigue by using props to fully support the body in passive poses. It works to shift the body from a sympathetic ("fight or flight") state to a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state, promoting deep relaxation, better sleep, enhanced immunity, and emotional equilibrium.

Certified instructor Cindy Beth Davis-Dykema guides a 4-pose Restorative and Yoga Nidra session, woven through local musician Maria Basaj's lovely, live Violin. Live music elevates all experiences, but can feel especially supportive na and nourishing when our bodies are deeply held in such long opportunities for conscious and complete relaxation as this evening will feature. Essential oils finish the experience out with a celebration of sensory savoring. Price is $25 and limited spaces are available. Email to save your space themonarchinart@gmail.com
