Monarch Jazz Dance with Miss Rhyse & Miss Abbie 

Jazz classes are designed to be fast-moving and incredibly fun. Instead of the quiet, structured movements found in traditional styles, jazz encourages kids to let loose and show their personality.  Characterized by syncopated rhythms, body isolations, and dynamic movements like high kicks and turns, it celebrates individuality while maintaining a strong technical foundation. This class is taught by Rhyse Montague, with teaching support from Abbie Field.

Kids typically wear comfortable, stretchy clothes like leggings, leotards, or t-shirts so they can stretch and jump without restrictions. Dancers should wear layers, as there is no air conditioning in the studio.  No socks will be needed while dancing, unless a dancer prefers them.

As with all Monarch movement classes, we do not aim for rigid perfection, but rather- we approach our study as creative, body-based movement that provide opportunities for creative expression, sensory regulation, spatial awareness, and motor planning in an inclusive, non-judgmental, and interest-led environment, where all kids can feel safe exploring movement at their own pace. Miss Rhyse has a warm and welcoming energy that is sure to put kids of all levels and backgrounds at ease.  

Please send a water bottle and make sure your student has had a good snack before class. Parents may leave once they drop off students as only those in the class may stay in the studio during instruction. (Parents can hang out in the foyer though to help their kids feel comfortable as they get to know the space.)
