Try Shuffle Dance, the fun and informal, laughable and lovable dance that adults everywhere are spending hours in their garages learning. Lucky you- we have the benefit of one such amazing dancer in our community, and she wants to share the love of shuffle with all of us! Please wear comfortable clothing, socks or shoes with NO BLACK SOLES, (they destroy our floors) and come ready to move. Beginning shuffle dance is an intricate, rhythmic footwork style of low-impact dance, featuring foundational moves like the Running Man, T-Step, and Charleston. It involves sliding, hopping, and alternating feet in time with music, often practiced by beginners to build coordination, with a focus on mastering the Running Man first, and then adding on other moves and eventually, learning to freestyle! The wonderful Rachel Martin, of our yoga community has gifted us this offering, which we've been seeking within two hours of Hart since the Monarch opened in November. We feel SO FORTUNATE to have her talent and passion guiding our first FREE (or donation if you like) class to get you hooked, on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 pm at The Monarch in Hart. Spaces are filling fast, so be sure to email to get your name on the list themonarchinhart@gmail.com and then put Wednesdays May 13, 20 and 27 on your calendar for the month of May, so you can continue with us the rest of the month. The Beginning series will be $30 for four classes, (or just drop in and try your first class free) or drop in at $10 for any class that fits your schedule. Each class will build upon the next, but we'll be in Beginning Shuffle mode for quite some time as we learn together! It’s creating endurance, stamina, coordination, balance and muscle memory. It’s about having fun & letting loose while challenging yourself in a way you never have before! Shuffling is a universal dance for people of all ages and genders. You can go as hard or as soft as you like. You can dance to many different genres besides just electronic music, even if that's the main type of sound associated with it. At my class you will learn the fundamentals of shuffling. Moves like running man, t-step, cutting shapes, mastering the micro-bounce and traveling along the floor.
