Description: This is a great project to learn how to solder copper.  While soldering copper is like soldering silver, it’s a little harder because copper conducts heat so well and is a ‘dirty’ metal, which means when you hit it with the torch, it oxidizes very quickly and unless you protect your solder joint from that oxidation, you won’t be able to get your solder to flow, or you’ll have an incomplete joint. We’ll do a castellated bezel and a raised setting (can this get any more exciting!?) 

Students Will Learn: How to solder copper, sweat soldering, plating copper to cover silver solder joints, choosing and setting a cabochon, and forming a cuff. Students will also learn how to make bezel cuts and some texturing techniques as well as the proper use of the jeweler’s saw and some tips to make your life easier!

Kit Fee: $45

Kit Includes:

2” x 2” – 18-gauge copper sheet (back plate)      2 – 1” x 6” – 20 gauge copper sheet (cuff)

¼” x ¼” copper tubing (stand)                            1/8” x 6” – 22 gauge copper sheet (bezel)

Consumables (solder, flux, pickle)

Instructor Will Supply all needed tools including soldering stations. 

Students must supply 1 – cabochon (instructor will have some for sale at class time)  

Please bring whatever supplies and tools you have.  Cost of this class is $110 + Kit fee (paid to Jeff on day of class)
