First-day hikes take place Jan. 1 in many state parks.
Lower Paxton Township doesn't have a state park, but it does have Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area at the top of Blue Mountain. There's a parking lot at the top of Blue Mountain Parkway in the township's former Hocker Park.
By the authority given to me by nobody, Bill Bostic, hereby schedule the township's first First-Day Hike on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, at 2 pm.
Meet in the parking lot at the top of Blue Mountain Parkway. The hike will be canceled if there is inclement weather.
See you at the top of the mountain.
