- **Event Description**: We’re pleased to announce the 2025 Kosen Nationals weekend will take place January 9-11th. The cost?  FREE for USJA members!

January 9th:  Adult Kosen seminar with 2nd degree BJJ black belt and 4th degree Judo black belt Steve Matias. 

January 10th:  Kids and Adult Kosen seminars with 7th degree BJJ blackbelt and 7th degree Judo black belt Paulo Augusto. Professor Augusto is the only man alive to hold 7th degree black belts in both arts. 

January 11th:  Kosen Judo tournament (kids and adults). 

What is Kosen?  It’s a mixture of BJJ and Judo rulesets that:

1) Places BJJ, Judo and Wresting athletes on a fair playing field to compete with each other. 

2) Provides a more realistic ruleset to prepare for self defense. 

3) Addresses the weaknesses of the BJJ/Judo/Wrestling rulesets.

USJA membership is required for all 3 events - but with membership ($75/year), you receive grappling insurance that covers Judo or BJJ injuries at a USJA Chartered Club or event , and enables you to be promoted in Judo.
