We’re heading out to explore the always-beautiful Maryland Heights—home to one of the most scenic views in all of West Virginia, and right in our backyard!

We’ll meet and start the hike in downtown Harpers Ferry at the train station. Parking at the station is very limited, but overflow parking is available at the Visitor Center, where you can take the free shuttle into town. Please note there is a parking pass fee per vehicle. I have room for a few people in my car and am happy to carpool—carpooling is strongly encouraged!

According to AllTrails, this is a MODERATE hike. The trail is well-maintained, but includes approximately 700 feet of elevation gain on the way up to the overlook (all downhill on the way back—woohoo!). 

The full hike is about 4 miles and should take roughly 3 hours to complete.
Bring hiking poles if you have them, plenty of water, a snack, and of course, a smile ?
