About Special Event Stations:

Every year thousands of amateur radio special events are enjoyed across the UK. The Special Event Station (SES) is an exhibition of amateur radio in public and is one way in which we can promote the hobby.
Clubs can use an SES to allow members of the public to get a taste of what amateur radio is about. Visitors can operate under supervision, enabling them to experience the joy and excitement of making wireless contacts with other operators anywhere in the world.
These events are also used to celebrate or commemorate a significant event or occasion, such as an anniversary, a festival, a historical milestone, or a public demonstration.
Each Special Event Station (SES) is allocated a call sign and is set up in a whole range of places of interest across the UK and abroad.
