Harlem Java House presents our 1st Annual Adult Spelling Bee — a cozy, caffeine-fueled night of friendly competition, good food, and community giving.
Step up to the mic and test your spelling skills as we crown HJH's very first Java House Spelling Bee Champion. Whether you’re competing or cheering from the crowd, expect laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of fun — all inside your favorite small-town coffee shop.
To make the evening even better, we’re serving a limited Korean-inspired menu available through our online ticketing system:
🔥 Tteokbokki – chewy rice cakes simmered in a sweet and spicy sauce
🍙 Kimbap – flavorful Korean seaweed rice rolls
🍋 Yuja Cha (Hot or Iced) – a soothing, citrusy Korean tea that’s as comforting as it is refreshing
🎟️ Food tickets can be purchased on our website or through the link below. Quantities are limited, so grab yours early!
Entry is free — just bring canned goods or non-perishable items to donate to Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, our local organization feeding families right here in Harlem.
We’ll have a 20-person sign-up sheet available at the shop on the day of the event — first come, first serve to enter the competition!
🏆 Winners will receive Harlem Java House gift cards and bragging rights as Harlem’s first-ever spelling bee champion.
