Dr. Dylan Marney, Chair of the Division of Fine, Applied, and Literary Arts and Assistant Professor of Music at Culver-Stockton College, will be the featured performer at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St. The performance will utilize the Kawai grand piano graciously on loan to HAC from the family of Jason Dugger.
The Casual Classics series offers an accessible way to enjoy “classical music meets community” — often with a friendly, welcoming vibe rather than a formal atmosphere. The Hannibal Arts Council is more intimate than large concert halls — this means a closer, more personal listening experience, and good for people who enjoy relaxed classical concerts or want to experience a classically-based performance for the first time.
Marney is Chair of the Division of Fine, Applied, and Literary Arts and Associate Professor of Music at Culver-Stockton College. Dr. Marney received his DMA from the University of Arizona, majoring in Piano Performance under Dr. John Milbauer, with a minor in Music Theory. He received both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance at Central Washington University, studying with Dr. John Pickett, and was awarded 1st place in the Steinway & Sons piano competition for Washington State. Dr. Marney also holds a Master of Science degree in Music Technology from the IUPUI School of Music in Indianapolis.
There is no admission for the performance. No advance ticket purchase or reservations are required.
The Casual Classics performance is being presented in partnership with the Hannibal Arts Council, Hannibal Concert Association, Culver-Stockton College Division of Fine, Applied, and Literary Arts, Area Culver-Stockton Trustees and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
