A Teaching Artist with InsideOut Literary Arts, and member-owner to the bookstore Book Suey, he spends his time building community with students in the classroom and local writers. When he isn't working, he spends most of his time daydreaming about writing and writing about those dreams.Suzanne Honda (she/her), poet and author of the chapbook, "When We Were Birds" (Porkbelly Press, 2022), was born and raised in Warren, Michigan. Her writing is a bold exploration of her ever-evolving identity, as understood through the lenses of adolescent illness, religion and sexuality. She holds awards from Crab Creek Review, the Atlanta Review, and, most recently, Writer's Digest, and has work published in Soundings East, SWWIM Every Day, and Waxing &amp; Waning, among others. You can find her at @suzehonda (IG) and https://porkbellypress.com/hybrid/birds.Katelyn Durst Rivas (she/they) is a poet, essayist, researcher, teaching artist, cultural organizer and mother who examines themes of Black girlhood, transracial adoption, motherhood, abolition and care for Black bodies through their creative work. In their cultural organizing and arts administrative work, Katelyn has worked in arts-based civic engagement, arts for community transformation and creative youth programming for over 15 years.She completed an MA from Eastern University in Urban Studies and Community Arts and has a BA in English and Writing and Art and Design from Northern Michigan University. In 2019, she published the chapbook “Radical Self-Care for Black Women” and founded the Detroit chapter of The Free Black Women’s Library. Their work has been featured in Michigan Quarterly, Khöra, Tayo Literary Magazine and others. Katelyn is currently at work on a memoir that is about their experience as a transracial adoptee composing their own definition of Blackness where she weaves personal and political narratives through braided essays that combine prose, verse and Black Feminist reproductive rights issues. When not writing she can be found adventuring with her daughter, laughing with friends and dreaming up a prairie garden.Jacqueline Suskin is a poet and educator who has composed over forty thousand improvisational poems with her ongoing writing project, Poem Store. Suskin is the author of nine books, including The Edge of The Continent Volume 1-3, Help in the Dark Season, Every Day is a Poem, A Year in Practice, and The Verse for Now, with work featured in various publications including the New York Times, the Atlantic, and the Los Angeles Times. An ecstatic earth-worshipper, she lives in Detroit where she works with InsideOut Literary Arts, bringing nature poetry into classrooms around the city.Porkbelly PressFlower Press
