"Detroit: Home for the Holidays" is a curated, festive bus tour that captures the spirit of the city's winter wonderland. From shopping at Hudson’s to meeting under the Kern’s Clock, walking “The Boulevard” shops to the Thanksgiving Day Parade, from the official city Christmas tree to our beautiful, artist-made Detroit Menorah and Kinara (the Swahili word for candle holder used in the Kwanzaa celebration), experience the magic of Detroit during the holiday season.
Your adventure begins at the Detroit History Club (arrive up to 30 minutes early and shop our boutique), where you’ll check in and board our luxury motorcoach. Our first stop is Detroit’s own Slows Barbecue for a custom-curated brunch menu crafted for your savory enjoyment.
Following brunch, we’ll travel to Detroit’s premier pottery, Pewabic, to explore and shop its beautifully appointed gift shop. Stroll in the footsteps of Mary Chase Stratton, peruse the offerings, and perhaps find that special gift or keepsake to be treasured for years to come.
Our next stop will be the Downtown Winter Market — a seasonal hub of holiday cheer where you can shop more than 24 pop-up shops, grab a beverage, and take in all the sights of Detroit’s holiday splendor! You’ll also be just a short walk from Nick Gilbert Way, next to the new Hudson’s Development in downtown Detroit. Shop, explore, and maybe even take a trip down memory lane at these exceptional and unique retail destinations.
In between stops, we’ll share Detroit holiday history, spread some good cheer, and maybe even give away a prize or two (excellent stocking stuffers)!
