Want to learn how to kayak proficiently and safely to maximize your confidence and enjoyment? Join NOLI instructor Debbie Briscoe on Watauga Lake for our half-day Kayaking 101 Class. 

What to Expect:
- Overview of flatwater kayaks, gear, safety and trip planning considerations
- Review and practice kayaking fundamentals, strokes and maneuvering
- Opportunity to apply what you've learned on a leisurely paddle on a beautiful lake
- A supportive and patient instructor
- FUN!

Upon arriving you will be greeted by your instructor who will give you an overview of the day, a review of flatwater kayaks and gear, and a safety briefing. You will then be fitted to one of our touring kayaks, a life jacket and paddle and make your way to the water's edge, where your instructor will make sure you are comfortable and properly outfitted in your boat. 

Next the real fun begins as you launch into a protected cove as a group to learn fundamentals, strokes and maneuvering, before embarking on a leisurely paddle on the emerald-green waters of Watauga Lake to apply what you've learned.

Cost is $85 for adults and $75 for youth. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayaks, paddles and PFDs are included but participants are welcome to bring their own if they have them. For more information and to register go to
