Recognizing a need to preserve the Smooth Jazz genre of music in Hampton Roads, this concert series was started in October of 2014 by Blue Pyramid Productions LLC in collaboration with Seven Venues at the Historic Attucks Theater in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The Church Street Jazz Series is for lovers of Smooth Jazz in the Mid-Atlantic area of the United States, nationwide and abroad.

Robert McElhiney "Bob" James (born December 25, 1939) is an American two-time Grammy Award-winning smooth jazz keyboardist, arranger and record producer. He is recognized as one of the original founders of smooth jazz, and is renowned for the complexity of arrangements and instrumentals. Bob James’s career is extensive and diverse, continuing to evolve at every turn. From his first days in Marshall, Missouri, the music of Bob James has captivated audiences throughout the world.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFO: Doors 7pm. Show 8pm. Masks are no longer required but are STRONGLY encouraged for any non-vaccinated patron. Walk-through magnetometers are now located on all SevenVenues properties. Patrons who opt to not go through the magnetometer are subject to a physical and/or visual inspection of person and belongings. Failure to consent or submit to an inspection will result in denial of entry. A clear bag policy is now in effect for public events at SevenVenues. Each patron is permitted to bring one approved bag into the venue and all bags are subject to search prior to entry.
