Based on research studies, the Mediterranean diet provides numerous health benefits, including a reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and improved blood sugar levels. It also supports weight management, can slow cognitive decline, and may lower the risk of certain cancers and type 2 diabetes.
In this 6 week class, attendees will learn ways to live a healthy lifestyle based on the Mediterranean diet. The course will use the Med Instead of Meds curriculum developed by researchers at NC State University. Each week attendees will be provided a recipe and a handout of key facts from the week's discussion.
Classes will meet each Wednesday from January 14th through February 18th from 2:00PM-3:00PM at the Hamlet Library.
