White Rabbit Red Rabbit is a global theatrical phenomenon by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour, conceived when he was barred from leaving Iran after refusing military service. By the time he was free to travel, the play had already taken the world by storm, performed in more than 30 languages across the globe.
This is theater like nothing you’ve experienced before. At each performance, a different actor steps onstage and is handed the script for the very first time: no rehearsal, no director, no safety net. Every night is opening night. Part trust exercise, part social experiment, the play challenges us to examine how we think even more than what we think, forging a powerful and unexpected bond between actor and audience.
The plot itself remains a closely guarded secret, preserved by both performers and viewers. Actors are asked to avoid all exposure to the play beforehand—no Googling, no discussion, no research—which can feel daunting, exhilarating, or both.
Because no two performances are ever the same, we highly recommend seeing White Rabbit Red Rabbit more than once. Each night offers a completely new and unforgettable experience.
White Rabbit Red Rabbit is sponsored by Evans Ace Hardware.
Two of the four performances are being precast. Auditions for the remaining two performances will be held March 15 at 7 PM at the Hamilton Playhouse.
