Our annual Trail & Obstacle course prepares you and your horse for a safe and enjoyable experience out of the arena, on trails and with obstacles, whether you encounter them on a trail, or if you are keen to participate in any 'Obstacle' type activities or competitions. We can teach you how to approach obstacles in a way that builds confidence, competence and enthusiasm in your horse.
We focus on what you need to test and prepare BEFORE you head out of the arena, how to read your horse, read situations and respond appropriately when faced with the many challenges of riding 'out'.
Our Trail riding program is featured on 'The Horsemen Collective' video coaching platform.
This course is NOT a 'guided trail ride', it is a comprehensive course that focuses on PREPARATION.
Our facility is purpose built for this, and when you are prepared, the lights are green and you are ready to go...you have a variety of choices of trails to explore, from the 'shallow' end to the 'deep end' of our 618 acres of natural bushland.
Our experienced team (husband and wife Justin and Chris Corbidge) will guide you and help you plan your rides, and split the group where needed.
Topics we cover:
Equipment suited for the purpose of trail riding.
Knots you need to know.
Mounting and dismounting training (with & without assistance)
Checklist for trail readiness.
Anxious horses, how to prepare and re-establish calm in horses on the trail itself.
Riding alone & riding in pairs and groups.
How to build confidence with obstacles.
Floating problems.
And more...
If you are already riding your horse confidently in an arena this course is definitely one you will gain from.
If you are inexperienced and/or haven't ridden your current horse 'out', this is the course that could help you.
If you have a new horse and want to know more about how to test their trail readiness, this course could be very helpful.
*Not recommended for green horses (less than 100 hours ridden) unless you are very experienced and confident in yourself with riding 'out'.
