Sweatshop & Owl Green -
Sweatshop & Owl Green are a fresh-faced, old school inspired hip-hop duo based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. With influences ranging from early hip-hop roots, to Rock & Roll, to funk and soul classics, to modern trap and electronic music, their fresh take on ‘Boom Bap’ hip-hop is quickly catching on.
The duo has been delivering their signature sound around the West Coast since 2014, most recently through a bi-coastal and Canadian international tour. In the past year, SS&OG have opened for artists such as KRS-ONE, Problem, and The Palmer Squares, establishing themselves as one of the pre-eminent independent hip-hop acts in the Bay Area.
Lex Leosis is an overwhelmingly cheerful and charismatic presence among any line of fellow emcees, but make no mistakes, she is anything but chipper on the microphone. Her roots in the competitive world of slam poetry and rap come out in her fierce and abrasive lyricism, and that competitive drive has already given her a notable spot in the Toronto undergound scene. The Toronto-native emcee and spoken word artist was part of the first Toronto Poetry Slam team, the first-ever Canadian team to compete at Brave New Voices in 2011, and since moved on to release three consecutive mixtapes, as well as a decorated career in rap competitions. She has taken both the online and local community by storm, playing 100s of shows, touring the west coast of the United States, and generating millions of views. Recently, Lex Leosis was featured in TeamBackPack’s International Women’s Day Cypher, hosted by 40z Heroes. This cypher received high praise from top Hip Hop blogs around the world, including Nosiey, The Fader, Hype Machine, and Boi-1da.
Mys Will -
mywill is an ancient artist waiting to be rediscovered. Hometown: The Hammer (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada). Label: D.E.M Studios (Doing Everything and More)
Slur, otherwise known as Mat Heddle, grew up in Hamilton honing his rhymes during his high school years at St. Thomas More with a group of friends who dubbed themselves the Ignorantz. Slur released three collections of songs that had a common theme. He developed a buzz about getting a buzz with albums dubbed The Predrink, Last Call and The Hangover but perhaps fell victim to the lifestyle he rhymed about.
