Crime generally boils down to three causes: love/lust, money/power, or fame.
Strangely, the same can be said for songs.
The Sinners Choir, Jake Chisholm, and Deeps come as close to collectively delivering on all three as is possible.
Sun. May 28, 8pm (and that's a whole week past the long weekend---plenty of time to sober up and start all over again), the three sets of performers appear at The Casbah in downtown Hamilton (check casbahlounge.ca for directions).
The Sinners Choir -- Terry Wilkins, bass/vocals (Levon Helm; David Wilcox; Big Sugar) plus Adam Warner, drums/vocals (White Bells Oklahoma; Chantal Kreviatzuk) plus Adam Beer Colacino, guitar/vocals (Devin Cuddy; Whitney Rose) -- bring both the gritty and the sweet sides of Americana. Not to mention a goodly dose of its greasy roots in blues, R 'n B, and rock 'n roll. One of Toronto's hottest bands.
Jake Chisholm plays solo this time, with only his shameless songs of love, lust and loss as support. With a timeless sound, Chisholm is making a big name for himself as well. Great lyrics and guitar hooks to match, plus compelling chill-making vocals, Jake's a fresh take on da blues but with a classic edge.
Deeps aka Steve Vincent De Piante comes from the school of hard-knock romance. A powerhouse voice and a multi-instrumentalist, Deeps is an original at tuning into love and all it has to answer for.
