While we’re all stuck inside dreaming of warmer days, we’d love to invite you to a Southern Fruit Trees & Grafting Day as part of our Heritage Days.
Hosted by 7 Sisters Heritage Farm, we’re welcoming Larry Stephenson of Southern Cultured Orchards & Nursery to share which fruit trees thrive best in Zone 7b. This public presentation will focus on southern heirloom fruit trees, including a very special one.
Larry is the caretaker of the Yellow Hamilton Apple, a local heirloom like the kind your grandma used for fried pies. This apple survived only through grafting, and as the skill faded, so did the tree. Larry has spent years preserving it and teaching the lost art of grafting.
When? April 4, 2026 starting at 9:00am
Where? Hamilton Recreation Center
•Public Presentation ($5 suggested donation)
•Hands-on grafting workshop ($40)
Leave with 2 grafted apple trees + the knowledge to pass on
Heirloom trees alone usually cost $40 each!

We’re also honored to partner with the Marion County Historical Society to plant a Yellow Hamilton Apple tree on their grounds, a living piece of our shared history!
