"Dawn of a Rock Star: An Amateur Asteroid Hunter’s Journey as Viewed on the Ho Tung Visualization Lab Dome".
The main speaker is MVAS member Perry Pezzolanella, and Joe Eakin, Technical Director of the Ho Tung Visualization Lab. 

During this fun and interesting meeting, we will learn how amateur astronomer Perry Pezzolanella got started in the Astronomical League's "Asteroid Observing Program". The purpose of this challenging observing program is "to encourage amateur astronomers to learn to identify and observe asteroids. While the deep sky objects observable by amateurs remain the same, year after year, the asteroids (like the planets) are constantly moving against the background of the constellations." Perry not only met the challenge of observing 100 asteroids, but FAR EXCEEDED the challenge -- he has observed 500 asteroids!  Perry will explain his dedication to observing asteroids and his participation in the Astronomical League's program. We will also get to see the results of his observations on the amazing planetarium's dome, thanks to the stellar efforts of the planetarium staff.

The Parking Lot is up the road past and across the street from the Ho Science Center.  

Enter the Ho Science Center at the entrance by the dinosaur cutout and go to the fourth floor, Room 408. Use the stairs or the elevator which is located around the corner from the lounge. We will be in the Visualization Lab (planetarium).
