Rather than something heavy, we're marking the week by celebrating everything good that's already in our community: a walk, music, kai, market stalls, a waka ama experience on the lake, creative stations, and a stage giving rangatahi a genuine voice.Support services will be woven right through the day alongside the fun, so people can find what they need without ever having to go looking for it. Because none of us can carry our communities alone — but bound together, like the reeds in this whakataukī, we're unbreakable. Our mokopuna are the future, and they deserve a community that shows up for each other.This falls during Suicide Prevention Week, and the way we're choosing to acknowledge it is by celebrating community resilience and connection — the light that carries us through the dark.
