Karen Wales – Gardens for Wildlife, Wed 18th Feb at 7.30pm at HIRL
Our first speaker this year will be Karen Wales who will speak about Gardens for Wildlife on 18th February at 7.30pm at HIRL on North Boundary Road.
Gardens for Wildlife Victoria is a network of community members and council/shire officers across Victoria supporting each other to involve local residents, schools and businesses to care for the native plants and animals within Victorian communities. Karen is a volunteer and chairperson of the Warrnambool City Council’s Gardens for Wildlife program.
Plants and animals need food, water, and shelter for populations to survive and reproduce. Karen will explain ways you can incorporate these elements into your garden to enhance and/or create additional habitat within your garden to encourage more wildlife including birds, insects and other animals and provide resources to find more information. Karen will also explain how the Gardens for Wildlife program works in Warrnambool City Council as this may be a program we should be encouraging our local shire to also become involved in.
