Join Nature at McMaster as we plant beautiful native wetland plants, boosting biodiversity and supporting wildlife in the process. Keep an eye out for unique local wetland animals during this event!Event Details:Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2026Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pmLocation: Meet at the shuttle turnaround at Parking Lot P on McMaster's West Campus. Nature at McMaster staff will lead you to the planting site. If you arrive late, please follow the trail marked with an arrow on the map to the planting site location and find a Nature at McMaster staff to sign in.Activities:Planting: we will plant native wildflowers and shrubs to create vibrant habitat around the new ponds at West Campus!Invasive Plant Removal: we will remove non-native European Buckthorn shrubs that are crowding out native species and degrading the habitat around our vernal ponds.Bring/Wear:Comfortable, closed-toe, durable shoes (mud proof if you have any)Long pants and long socksEnsure you wear clothing and shoes that you will not mind getting dirtyWater bottlesSunscreen/Hat/SunglassesBug sprayNature at McMaster will provide all the tools and plants necessary for this event.Accessibility Notes:There are no washrooms available on site. The nearest washrooms are at the Mary Keyes Residence.We will be working in muddy, uneven terrain.Planting trees may require kneeling on the ground and other physically taxing activities.
