Console Repair - Game Gear Repair / Recap (8 ppl max)
Dates: August 10, 17, and 24; 5 PM to 8 PM each class
Description:
This will be a series of 3 interactive classes, where we will provide a Game Gear and a capacitor kit for participants. We will walk through how to take apart the Game Gear and help you with installation of the capacitors and testing. You will need some soldering experience with electronics. We will provide strategies on how to map out the capacitors and replace them.
Participants will have the opportunity to repair a Game Gear and hopefully have a working unit. Due to the number of capacitors (15+) to be installed, there is a risk of failure.
Registration cost will include the Sega Game Gear and kit. Advanced registration is needed so kits can be ordered and arrive in time for the class.
As with any repair, unexpected things may happen during repair, and some danger is present for any repair. If you miss a session due to an emergency, we will try to accommodate with a replacement session if we are able.
We will offer a discount if you bring your own Game Gear but not if you bring your own kit. There are a lot of different kits so we will order them for everyone to make sure our instructions match the kit.
