This year the UN Association in Canada Hamilton Branch is marking this date by hosting a discussion forum on Artificial Intelligence, a subject that is on the minds of people around the world. AI is penetrating all aspects of life at an alarming speed with consequences, positive and negative, that are barely imaginable. When the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals were identified and adopted by the world’s nations in 2015, the implications of AI in relation to the achievement of these goals were hardly considered. Now consideration is imperative if we wish to build a people-first, planet-friendly, life-protecting AI future.Event DetailsOn Saturday October 24, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM we will discuss some of these implications in a format that encourages information-sharing and reflection leading to individual and collective actions that we might take to participate pro-actively in the shaping of this new world.AgendaThe day begins with a keynote speaker, Professor Stephen Scharper, from the University of Toronto, who will focus on AI and SDG #1 (“No Poverty”). This talk will be followed by several break-out sessions that are led by facilitators with subject experience focusing on AI and other SDGs:SDG #7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”;SDG #8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”;SDG #9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”;SDG #10 “Reduced Inequalities”; andSDG #13 “Climate Action”.Come prepared to learn, ask questions, share experiences, and develop (or join) some lines of action! A light lunch will be provided during this participatory and free event. Cash donations for the lunch are welcome. - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/hamilton/building-a-people-first-ai-future-by-unac-hamilton/100001999629970069 - **Event Categories**: business, nonprofit, artificial-intelligence - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Age Limit: All Ages - Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes - Location: The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 0, max: 0, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: Hamilton - **state**: ON - **country**: Canada - **location**: The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton - **lat**: 43.2574486 - **long**: -79.8902856 - **full address**: The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton, 170 Dundurn Street South, Hamilton, Canada ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Building a People-First AI Future by UNAC Hamilton - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/3f765222465508f46bf20d02b5e64a19b6511b1ddeb4b07dd439fca79d8a5243-rimg-w1200-h1000-dc285888-gmir.jpg?v=1791048711 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Building a People-First AI Future by UNAC Hamilton being held? - **A:** Building a People-First AI Future by UNAC Hamilton takes place on Sat, 24 Oct, 2026 at 10:00 am to Sat, 24 Oct, 2026 at 01:30 pm at The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton, 170 Dundurn Street South, Hamilton, Canada. - **Q**: Who is organizing Building a People-First AI Future by UNAC Hamilton? - **A:** Building a People-First AI Future by UNAC Hamilton is organized by United Nations Association in Canada - Hamilton ON. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
