About the Play
This classic psychological thriller—originally titled Angel Street—is the chilling story that gave rise to the term “gaslighting.” Set in Victorian London, the play follows the seemingly genteel couple, Jack and Bella Manningham, whose domestic calm hides dark secrets and manipulation. As Bella begins to question her own sanity, a retired detective reopens a long-buried mystery that could expose the truth—or destroy her completely.

Cast Breakdown
Bella Manningham – 30s–40s. Intelligent, sensitive, and increasingly distressed as her husband’s manipulations take their toll.
Jack Manningham – 40s–50s. Charming yet cruel; hides menace beneath refinement.
Rough – 50s–60s. Retired police detective, gruff but good-humored, determined to uncover the truth.
Elizabeth – 40s–60s. Loyal maid, practical, quietly protective of Bella.
Nancy – 18–25. Flirtatious, ambitious young maid with an eye on the master of the house.
Audition Requirements
• Prepare a 1–2 minute dramatic monologue.
• Cold readings from the script will also be provided.
• Bring a headshot and résumé, if available.
• Rehearsals begin early December 2025 (break for holidays) and resume in January 2026.
