The City is completing the final phase of its Smart Water Meter Upgrade as part of the broader AMI Remediation Project. More than 3,000 meters are being replaced with state‑of‑the‑art iPERL smart meters — improving accuracy, reducing maintenance, and paving the way for future tools that make water management simpler for everyone. The City invites all residents and business owners to attend our upcoming Smart Meter Project Workshop on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn about the new water meter technology, understand what to expect during installation, and see how these improvements will make your water service more efficient and convenient.
This workshop is designed to help make the meter replacement process as easy and seamless as possible for our customers.
During the session, we will:
• Present the updated Smart Metering Project Overview - including what’s changing, when installations will occur, and how the new system works.
• Review the benefits of the new iPERL smart meters, including improved accuracy, leak detection, and long-term reliability.
• Share the City’s plans to explore a future customer portal that could let you view your water use, receive alerts, and manage your account online once approved.
• Introduce you to our service partners, including the City’s Utility Billing Team and VepoMetering, who will conduct the installations.
• Answer questions and provide resources to help every customer prepare for a smooth transition.
We encourage everyone to attend and learn how these improvements will enhance service reliability, increase convenience, and support cost savings for our community.
