- **Event Description**: We are thrilled to announce an upcoming FREE Lafayette event in Halifax, NC, to be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 1 pm ET. This event will continue our Lafayette250 events in the Tar Heel State, following our first Halifax event last year, which commemorated Lafayette's historic visit there during his triumphal return to the U.S. on February 27-28, 1825.

The marker unveiling will coincide with the 250th celebrations of the historic Halifax Resolves, which were enacted on that day 250 years ago on April 12, 1776. It is a great honor made to The Lafayette Trail, Inc. to be recognized as an official partner in such a historic anniversary, and we are very grateful to the Halifax 250 officials for including us on their busy schedule. If anything, this validates the narrative that Lafayette's legacy is, indeed, enduring and deserves representation during the Halifax250 commemorations. 

The Lafayette Trail Revolutionary War marker ceremony will be conducted in collaboration with the Halifax Historical Restoration Association and take place near the corner of US Highway 301 and W Pittsvylvania St.

The historic marker will commemorate Lafayette's travels through Halifax on his way from South Carolina to Philadelphia, ca. July 15, 1777. The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes and include remarks from all the stakeholders involved in securing this new historic marker for Halifax. 

We would like to thank once again the Halifax Historical Restoration Association, in particular Larry Armstrong, for their attachment to preserving Lafayette's legacy in their community. This new marker was donated to the Halifax Historical Restoration Association by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.
