- **Event Description**: It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the unveiling ceremony of our latest Lafayette Trail marker in North Carolina. The patriotic function will take place in Halifax, NC, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, @ 2 pm ET. This ceremony will be the first one of our brand-new 250 efforts in the Tar Heel State.

The Lafayette Trail, Inc., is partnering with the Historical Halifax Restoration Association (HHRA) to celebrate Lafayette's historic visit to Halifax, NC, in February of 1825, especially his time with Mary Montfort, widow of Revolutionary War Patriot Willie Jones, on February 28, 1825. HHRA is a 501 charitable organization chartered in 1955 that has worked to preserve and promote the Revolutionary history of Halifax for 70 years.

The ceremony will take place near 651 Owens Mill Rd, Halifax, NC 27839. It will last approximately 45 minutes and include remarks from all stakeholders involved in the preparation of this monument. Please note that this event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The marker was donated to the Historical Halifax Restoration Association by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. 

Street parking will be available in the immediate vicinity of the site of the unveiling.
