•	side effects after a flu shot are generally mild and resolve on there own within a few days.
•	severe reactions are very rare.

When is the best time to get a flu shot?
In Nova Scotia, the vaccine does not arrive till mid October, so any time after it arrives is good, late October and into November. But if you miss getting your shot, it is still helpful to get it even in Jan. or later. It takes two weeks for your body to build up your immunity, so you want to have enough time before the flu starts to ramp up.
