- **Event Name**: Fishing for Compliments + Josh Jacob (from Dallas, USA)
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 11 Oct, 2026 at 03:30 pm (+01:00)
- **Event Description**: four piece indie/folk band from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. The band formed organically around lead singer-songwriter’s Eileen’s emotive & enigmatic songs with all members
sharing a passion for developing and creating a quirky sound that we like to call our own emerging from the eclectic mix of influences from which we draw including; The Beatles, XTC, Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, The Cure, The Smiths, The Sundays and The Cranberries to name but a few. We have been gigging across the North of England and beyond since 2011 often adapting our
formation from duo to trio to full band to suit the event space and venue with Eileen’s songs and retro vibe voice always being pivotal. Audiences have described our performances and songs as ‘uplifting’ ‘sunny’ ‘quirky’ ‘emotive’ ‘intriguing’ and ‘making you feel like dancing in the moonlight.’

Bright and breezy and at times utterly irresistible’ and “Eleven tracks of upbeat and optimistic folk-pop”
(Dave Beech, RGM Magazine).

“Light and upbeat folky/pop dominates Off The Isle Of Somewhere by Huddersfield’s FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS. The sound is somewhere between Fairground Attraction and The Beautiful South. The songs are jaunty and foot tapping...”
(RnR Magazine)

“F4C specialise in catchy, hook-laden folk/pop songs written by Eileen, which features her clear, natural voice, sometimes with vibrato, which gives the band’s music a distinctive unique sound. Eileen is also a fine songwriter who is able to combine intriguing, personal lyrics with a shiny pop sensibility”
(Peter Cowley, FATEA Magazine).
