There is a lift in the lobby that can be used to access the Ballroom, as well as an accessible washroom on the same level as the ballroom.About Colin EllardEllard is a cognitive neuroscientist at Waterloo University, and the director of Waterloo's Urban Realities Laboratory, which conducts studies of the human relationship with spaces and places at all scales from room interiors to urban streetscapes. He is one of the world’s leading experts on the psychology and neuroscience of urban design, and consults with governments, museums, architects, and corporations to help find ways to build better places using what is known of the human brain. He has published two successful books on these topics - You Are Here, which explores the human ability to find our way and Places of the Heart, a much-praised account of the human psychological and neurological relationship with place.About the Carmichael LectureThe annual Carmichael lecture on urban planning celebrates the life and work of Kate Carmichael, who was the executive director of the Downtown Halifax Business Commission (1996-2001) and instrumental in downtown revitalization.About SHIFT+SHIFT+ is Nova Scotia's Planning Conference, happening in Halifax March 26-28th!
