This is a diary of peaceful life existing side by side with war. The camera preserves fragile moments: our footsteps, sips of wine, smiles, a gaze falling into a newsfeed. And right next to us, behind a thin partition of reality, bombs, bullets, and knives are taking lives.
We meet people whose voices sound off-screen, filling the silence and allowing pain to finally be heard.
The film was shot in Israel, Montenegro, Germany, Hungary, and other countries.
Andrey Silvestrov is a producer, director, and artist. His films have been presented at film festivals in Venice, Berlin, Rotterdam, and others. Retrospectives and special screenings of his work have taken place in major museums worldwide, including Tate Modern (London), the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Ludwig Museum (Cologne), and the Queen Sofía Museum (Madrid).
He is also the curator of the MetaCannes Experimental Film Festival and one of the founders of Russia’s first independent film club, Cine-Phantom, established in 1995. He currently lives in Montenegro.
Director Andrey Silvestrov will personally participate in the screening and the following discussion.
