Mark your calendars! The South Hagerstown High Anniversary Association, a registered nonprofit organization, is planning a special fundraising event for Saturday, May 16, 2026. The event will be held on campus at South Hagerstown High School with the goal of raising funds towards a special event celebrating the school's 70th anniversary in the fall.
The day will feature plenty of fun for the entire family! There will be a car show in the parking lot from 11am-4pm. The show will have 10 total winners - 5 from the alumni class and 5 from the general showfield! Raffles including 50/50, food featuring BBQ pulled pork sandwiches following the late Phil Petry's ('63) famous recipe, Smash Grab & Go food truck and a by-donation alumni bake sale will happen during the show!
Meanwhile, the school will welcome guests for an open house! Displays of historical archive artifacts, yearbooks and a salute to each decade are being planned! A guided tour will be available each hour, or you can explore on your own. Feeling adventurous? A scavenger hunt will be held inside the school with the first few people to complete the hunt successfully winning some South High gear!
At 1:30pm, the alumni band will reunite for the first time in six years for a special performance of the school's fight son Dixie (aka Are You From South High). The performance will take place on the front porch of the school featuring band members, color guard, majorettes and cheerleaders!
