Enjoy an exploration into the growth, impacts, and decline of the Hagerstown and Frederick Railway Company, its intertwined history with the Historic National Road, and how its influence still can be felt today. From transportation to public services and community engagement, learn what this one railway did for the people of Washington and Frederick counties over its 50 years of operation in Hagerstown. Along the way, take a photographic tour of the route from Hagerstown to Williamsport as captured by 1940s railroad enthusiasts.Culture & Cocktails is generously sponsored by the James & Mary Schurz Foundation.
