- **Event Description**: Led by artist Leda Szemerédi (Edigumi), discover the ancient Japanese art of Tataki Zomé to create beautiful botanical wall art.About this EventCreative Connections: Tataki Zomé (Botanical Art) WorkshopDiscover the ancient Japanese art of Tataki Zomé (flower pounding) — gently hammering fresh petals and leaves with pebbles to release their natural pigments onto fabric, creating delicate, chemical-free botanical prints.In this joyful, hands-on session, Leda will show you how to playfully arrange flowers, leaves, and petals on fabric, then tap them with pebbles to coax out vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Youl wil fit your unique creation into an embroidery hoop for a beautiful, ready-to-hang wall piece. (We use pre-prepared, repurposed cotton fabrics — sustainable and full of character.)You'll learn take-home tips:- How to prepare fabrics for long-lasting colours from simple kitchen ingredients.- Best pebble-tapping techniques for crisp results- How many surprising hues you can capture from garden plants!We will bring plants and flowers but we also encourage you to bring your own flowers, petals, leaves, etc, to widen the variety of shapes and colours to play with.No experience necessary. Refreshments are provided.Note: Pebble tapping and hammering is noisy (rhythmic tapping on a hard surface), so bring earplugs if you're noise-sensitive — we'll keep the vibe relaxed and supportive.This event is part of the Creative Connections Workshop Series, connecting creatives with the local community. This project is delivered by Flourish Arts Network CIC and supported by funding from Essex Community Foundation's Acorn Fund.
